Add to favourites“Built on Resilience, Inspired by Possibility”
Eva Pemper Wines is a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of transformation. From a Croatian family’s humble beginnings, crafting wine in a war-torn garage, to Marlborough’s sunlit vineyards, Eva Pemper carries forward a legacy of passion and perseverance. Every bottle tells a story of hope, heritage, and the boundless possibilities that come from honouring the past while embracing the future.
Ripe fruit was hand harvested and destemmed (but not crushed), with the aim of achieving a significant percentage of intact berries in the ferment. Grapes were cold soaked for 4-5 days prior to undergoing a wild fermentation. The wine remained on skins post fermentation to optimise tannin extraction, whilst locking in the deep, ruby colour. The wine was drained from the skins and aged in French oak barriques for nine months during which time it underwent a full malolactic fermentation. In pursuit of the highest quality this wine has not been fined.
Supple and fragrant aromas of crushed raspberries, orange peel and cedar. The light-bodied palate has soft tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of strawberries and dried herbs with a savoury undertone. (James Suckling – 92 points)
Serve with roast beef or lamb with a dark rich gravy and alongside freshly harvested mushrooms.
