  • Albarino Bernon Aquitania Blanco, Rias Baixas — x 1

Fresh citrus and orchard fruit aromas and flavours, with a minerally element adding vivacity. Silky and precise, showing good lift but a bit of heat in the mid-palate.  It is balanced and persistent with plenty of lively acidity.

  • El Abuelo Monastrell Tempranillo — x 1

Rich aromas of red fruits and spices (cassis, sage). Juicy tannins with intense fruit forward, from the Monastrell grape. Drink with roast lamb!

  • El Abuelo Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc DO Almansa — x 1

Selected Organic 65% Verdejo and 35% Sauvignon Blanc from cool, high-altitude 750-800m, 15-20 year old trellised vines using organic farming methods, from nutrient-poor and limestone-rich soils, where rainfall is scarce. Harvested at night first two weeks September and then fermented at low temperature for 2 weeks, aged a further 3-4 months on fine lees with regular batonnage. Fresh, crisp with intense citrus, lime and tropical notes with a persistent finish. Food-friendly, enjoy with grilled salmon, seared scallops, chicken, summer salads.

  • Bodegas Piqueras Oak Aged Old Vine Garnacha, DO Almansa — x 1

From southeast spain, the ‘Piqueras’ label is fast becoming well known for reliable high quality and great value. The older Garnacha vines here (45-60 years) provide oodles of velvety black cherry, damson and spice flavours, with hints of vanilla oak.

Bodegas Piqueras is a fourth generation estate, founded in 1915 in the southeastern Spanish region of Almansa. With its semi-desert climate, it’s a ideal area to practice organic winemaking, with plenty of sunlight and little chance of disease. The cool nights contrast the hot days, giving vital acidity and aromatics to the rich, deeply-coloured wines. The traditional grapes of the region are Garnacha Tintorera, a rare red-fleshed grape variety, and Monastrell, also known as Mourvèdre. These are grown in the Los Timonares vineyard, which sits at 2500 feet above sea level. The Los Chuchillos vineyard has the estate’s oldest vines, with the gnarly bush vines being over 60 years old. Bodegas Piqueras recently added the El Vinculo vineyard, which is based amongst the olives, almonds and cereals of the Almansa reservoir region. All viticulture is done with nature, not against it, and biodiversity is actively encouraged. Sheep graze to keep surrounding plants in check, and their manure is used as fertiliser.

  • Tobelos Barrel Fermented White, Rioja — x 1

This excellent barrel fermented white Rioja has a yellow, green colour. The nose is intense with lots of clean ripe citrus fruit and pleasant toasty oak and smoked notes. The palate is dry and light with balanced fruit and wood assemblage which leaves a lingering refreshing taste of toasty ripe fruit notes and citrus hints.

  • Cal Pla Priorat Crianza Red — x 1

The wine is made in Porrera at the family owned and managed winery.

A truly sensational Priorat wine. Vibrant dark crimson colour with hints of purple, an intriguing, toasted and mature fruit cake nose with mineral notes, mountain herbs, liquorice and chocolate. Immensely full and powerful on the palate, great concentration of mature fruit from very low yields. A richness of flavours, balsamic, eucalyptus, envelopes the senses, reminiscent of the aromatic herbs and slate soil typical of the area. Great structure and velvety tannins with an enduring and memorable finish.

Aged for 15 months, using new and 2-3 year old French and Hungarian Oak. Bottled with no clarification or filtration.

Perfect food match for red meats, stews and game.
