  • Kaapzicht Pinotage, Stellenbosch — x 1

Kaapzicht’s Pinotage comes from 19 year old bush vines planted in weathered granite soil.  The vineyards are all dry land, unirrigated.

A full-bodied dry red wine, the nose displays forward wild fruit and prune with toasted cedar, vanilla and gun smoke.  The palate starts out racy, with a red-fruited bright core and firm tannins, developing furhter complexity of sour cherry, cola, green olives and smoke.

    Time in oak:  18 months.

  • Plaimont Cuvée du Roy IGP Côtes de Gascogne Rouge — x 1

Very well made Vin De Pays, soft tannins with a dry finish and full juicy fruit flavour. An easy drinking red, great on its own or a good match for most meat dishes and mild cheeses.

  • Rioja Vega Semi-Crianza — x 1

This well-structured Rioja is elegant on the nose, with notes of liquorice.  Dark fruit on the palate with the presence of slight tannins makes this a very pleasant wine.

  • Château Malbat Bordeaux Rouge — x 1

Full of juicy, red fruits this claret is soft and appealing with a lovely elegant balance that makes it very moreish!

‘This is without doubt, the finest, inexpensive red Bordeaux on the shelves at the moment.  Made predominantly from Merlot, with class and impeccable balance, this is a modern, juicy, complete wine with genuine, heart-warming appeal.’
Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail, 28 May 2016

  • Smart Dog Syrah, Ramos — x 1

Intense aromas of red berries with some spicy notes coming through the ripe fruit flavours. The palate is smooth with soft tannin supporting generous fruit and a full body. The wine finishes with plenty of spice and decent length.

  • Tre di Tre Puglia IGT Rosso Lupo Meraviglia — x 1

The peculiarity of this wine, obtained from a blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo and Aglianico, relies in its vinification method which involves the use of millstones during the fermentation process. These ancestral elements had been used in Apulia since the first wine-making experiences, and various archaeological findings attested their presence in the Salento area. They were made of stone and their characteristic shape (low, wide and completely open) allowed a better contact between the must and the skins with respect to the traditional wi-nemaking methods, improving the dissolution of oxygen during the fermentation process. Nowadays, the grapes are vinified inside the “modern” stainless steel millstones, whose shape and characteristics mirror the original ones. The wine obtained, with no oak refining, has a great structure, concentration and a very high persistence; the complete extraction of all the skins parts and the greater dissolution of oxygen during the fermentation process result in more mature tannins, which become less aggressive and more long-lasting.

  • MWC Shiraz Mourvedre — x 1

A full bodied Australian Shiraz with rich dark berry, leather and spice flavours with hints of white pepper. The savoury tannins of Mourvedre make this a balanced and satisfying wine with delicate integration of french oak.

  • Trentham Estate Pinot Noir, Murray River — x 1

Winemaker Anthony Murphy owns and runs this family estate on the Victoria border at Mildura. He is a big fan of Pinot as demonstrated by this well-structured number, full of red berry fruit, toasty oak and a soft, lingering finish.

  • Fleurie Presidente Marguerite Subtil, Cave de Fleurie — x 1

This is a light Fleurie with fruity strawberries and raspberries on the palate with a hint of violet and spice on the finish. It has a light body and smooth tannins, making an extremely approachable red wine.

  • Bagordi Rioja Crianza — x 1
Black and red wild fruit notes in balance with spice notes can be found in nose.  In mouth, medium-full body structure, with a silky palate make this wine complex and enjoyable.
  • Château Trébiac Graves, Maison Sichel — x 1

A stunning medium bodied wine that has excellent structure and style. Made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the wine also has small proportions of Malbec and Carmenere in the blend. Aged in oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.
