About the vineyard
This unique site offers us the testimony of this key period for French viticulture. The appearance of the first rootstocks in Europe, the use of new grape varieties, the conservation of certain ancestral varieties that have disappeared today, realities of which the Madeleine is the living trace!
Today, these very special vines have shaped a protected area of the appellation for more than a century. These so unique stocks, mostly Tannat, have over time taken on an exceptional character.
The plot is guarded by a porch called “Madeleine” which dates back to the 14th century. A symbolic gateway to the site which represents the rebirth of our vineyard.
The terroir, with a clay-gravel tendency, thanks to the deep root development of the vines, the expression of a structure, a complexity, a roundness and a fruity pushing back as far as possible the known references of the wines. of Saint-Mont and the greatest Wines of the Southwest.
The intense nose releases fruity (cherry) and spicy notes. The attack is frank, the mouth is full, generous. The fine balance between density and freshness reflects the strength of this terroir while the tannins, surprising in their finesse, reflect the age of these vines. The aromas of ripe fruit are expressed in a silky texture to give way to a long, smooth finish.
