The grapes producing this wine are grown on a terroir that is geologically unique to Madiran, ancient gravelly-clay soils which favour water drainage. These soils are predominately found midway up the appellations very steep slopes and express classic Madiran at its most noble. An oceanic, temperate climate with mild winters and hot, stormy summers.
From gravel soils on one of the steepest vineyards in Madiran, this wine is powerfully constructed, rich in black fruits and balanced acidity. Its tannins and dark structure promise plenty of ageing, so drink from now until 2023.
This wine we discovered upon visiting Plaimont in late 2019 is truly wonderful and a real gem for the money!
