Garalis Terra Ambera Muscat Alexandre Orange Limnos

Limnos, an island of many beauties has a long way from its massive history till today. Historically known for the vineyards which create the “Limnio” or “Kalambaki” grapes and later for the “Mosxato Alexandrias” grapes, both of which create a magnificent wine with rich aromas. The center of the island, which the largest vineyards are found is also where our winery is located, in the farmland also known as “Kourouni” in Agios Dimitrios, Limnos. In our winery named “Garali” is where we dedicate our time, hearts and attention to produce all our wines organically and with excellent quality.

Smooth topography hosts vineyard in Lemnos, where the vines of the Muscat of Alexandria located mainly along shallow valleys in the hilly western part of the island. The vineyard in Lemnos grown almost 5,000 acres, of which 90-95% with Muscat of Alexandria, while the remaining area with ancient Greek reed variety Limnio vine. This variety has the local name Kalampaki. He also took the name Limnio, fleeing from the island, because transported outside that became known as the origin (“Limnio” – from Lemnos) Normally, the harvest in Lemnos takes place in mid-September and a few days later.

The grape arrives at the winery in small crates. Burst, transfer of the grape mass to winemakers, pre-fermentative extraction with recycling for 5 days and spontaneous start of alcoholic fermentation. Light pressure in a pneumatic press and transfer of the wine to stainless steel tanks to complete the fermentation. Bottling without stabilization, without filtering and without the use of sulphite.

Aromas of quince, lemon zest, dough, yeast, porcini mushroom and a few herbs. In the mouth, the balanced, discreet acidity with restrained alcohol, the full body, the dense structure and the long aftertaste are elements of balance and expressiveness.
